The 'pemberkatan pernikahan', or wedding blessing ceremony, serves as a vital spiritual foundation for our marriage. During this ceremony, we will exchange vows before God and the church, and receive prayers for a lifetime of love, happiness, and spiritual growth together.
Reception

After the church ceremony, our reception will be at Hotel Grand Candi, where guests can traditionally congratulate the newlyweds and families seated at the front on a stage. Once you've greeted the newlyweds and families, the delicious Indonesian wedding dishes will be available for you to enjoy, with live music played in Keroncong style.

The Couple
Natalia
from Indonesia
Natalia was born and raised in Semarang, the capital city of Central Java, with a population of 1.7 million citizens. As the youngest of three siblings, with two older brothers, she experienced a warm family life. Natalia pursued her academic interests by studying to become an accountant. Seeking professional growth after her studies, she moved to West Java to work for a prominent property development company. Driven by a desire for new challenges and experiences, Natalia made the move to Bali in 2021. Deeply rooted in her upbringing, she embraces Javanese wisdom and holds a strong sense of pride in her rich Javanese culture.
Bart
from The Netherlands
Bart grew up in Mariënvelde, a small town of 900 people located in 'de Achterhoek' (translated as 'the back corner'), where he enjoyed a peaceful and worry-free youth. He grew up with one older sister and parents running a workshop. Bart was brought up possessing an entrepreneurial mindset, Bart studied to become an electrical engineer. After some years in corporate life, he decided that wasn't for him, and Bart traveled the world, where he discovered his true passion. He moved to Bali in 2022 to work on a startup and has been permanently based there since 2023, pursuing his dream.
Our Story
A glimpse into our love story
First Meeting
December 10th, 2023. Warung Kecil in Sanur, Bali. That's where it started. We both picked it as our workspace for the day, and happened to be seated side-by-side. We noticed each other instantly, and the conversation just took off. That afternoon, we decided to go for a walk on the beach, and we clicked, like, immediately. It was that rare thing – a shared vision, the same values and similar goals. It wasn't just a spark, it was like finding someone who saw the world the exact same way. And honestly? That feeling has only grown stronger since.
Reunited
End December, Bart had to return to the Netherlands for 1.5 months. This early separation immediately proved to be a good test to validate our strong feelings. After lots of video calls we finally reunited on February 15th and we have been practically inseparable since. :)
Meeting the Semarang Family
On the 24th of May, we decided to take a 12-hour train ride from Banyuwangi to Semarang to meet Natalia's family for the first time. Bart received a lovely and warm welcome from Natalia's family, especially from her mother who spent a lot of time in the kitchen ensuring he was well-fed – a very kind gesture so typical of an Indonesian mom.
The Proposal
On the 1st of November, during a trip to Nusa Penida with friends Lambros and Melissa, Bart found the perfect spot. At the end of a trail near Manta Point, they discovered a beautiful hidden beach where Bart proposed to Natalia, and she said yes! It was a truly unforgettable moment.
Meeting the Marienvelde Family
Natalia joined Bart for a 2.5-week trip to the Netherlands, where she met his family and attended Niels & Marit's wedding. Natalia spent a week with his parents due to Bart's work commitments, allowing her to forge a close bond with them. Despite the chilly Dutch weather, she was met with the same warm hospitality Bart had experienced in Semarang.
Wedding
For Natalia and Bart, the profound love we share has naturally led us to this exciting next chapter of marriage in June. We are filled with gratitude that so many of our dear friends and family, from near and far, are making the considerable journey to Bali and Semarang to celebrate with us. Your effort to be there means the world to us.
